Our mission at TUSNE is to address all aspects and issues within the civil nuclear sector, prioritising our efforts to make the greatest impact on the most critical matters facing the industry.

We are not a bargaining organisation. We do not engage in negotiations around pay nor terms and conditions. We leave that to our affiliate unions – GMB, Prospect and Unite.

We are independent and apolitical using our independence to provide strong third party advocacy. Although we are not a vehicle for employers, we recognise that there are common goals we share with them – the most obvious of which is to see a prosperous future through a safe and secure nuclear industry. And we firmly believe that without nuclear there will be no net zero.

What We Do

TUSNE’s purpose is to ensure the wellbeing of the nuclear industry and its employees, working to ensure nuclear is part of a net zero energy mix. To help achieve this, we will undertake the following work in Parliament and across the sector following the 2024 General Election.

We will undertake external outreach to spread TUSNE’s message widely within the trade union movement, the nuclear industry, politicians and governments, and other key stakeholders.

We will engage with politicians, seeking to gain cross-party support, ensuring that our messages are disseminated and understood by the UK’s politicians. We will focus our efforts on key allies and decision-makers but will also be open to engagement more widely.

As part of TUSNE’s engagement activities, we will focus on key issues relevant to the industry and its workers.
